Print On Demand (POD)

Print on Demand (POD) is a system that populates Rover Ink forms with data from a back-end database. Users append data to this record and, once the pen is docked, the new verified data is then exported back to the original database.

How POD Works

POD Components include:

The back-end database
The POD server software
The Rover INK Server
The Rover INK Verifier

The POD server will retrieve new records from the back-end server. Each record will be assigned a unique dot pattern. The dot pattern is the key identifier that the system uses to ensure the integrity of the record.

The POD server then takes each record, allocates the pattern, pre-fills the form with data from the back-end database and sends the pre-filled form to the printer.
Users complete the remaining portion of the form using the digital pen and append their new data. When complete, users simply dock their pen.

Rover INK recognizes the dot pattern and the session presented to the verifier with both the pre-fill and the new data. The Verifier then has the opportunity to correct and/or add data to the portions of the form that allow for new data entry.

Upon completion, the form is exported to the Rover INK Server for document storage. It is also sent to the POD server. The POD server recognizes the unique dot pattern of the form. This flags the system to export the record to the back-end database with the new, appended data. The back-end database receives the updated record and automatically updates with the new information collected from the field.
